POSITION: Cross Country Snow Groomer

DEPARTMENT: Mountain Operations

REPORTS TO: Director of Operations 

STATUS OF POSITION: Seasonal

Position Summary

 

This position is responsible for grooming the cross country trails in the Winter while using techniques to maintain the snow/hill/resort conditions to the highest of standards for our guests.

This role begins in the morning at 3am or 4am depending on conditions to ensure the trails are groomed prior to Resort opening.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Operate snow grooming equipment and snowmobile in the morning before guest use
  • Clean and lubricate equipment and refill equipment tanks.
  • Conduct daily pre-operational checks on equipment
  • Working knowledge with reading plans and understanding grades
  • Excellent reporting and communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Able to traverse up and down multi pitched terrain with equipment
  • Secure special attachments to equipment as needed.
  • Operating the groomer to push snow and till the hills for the next day's operation.
  • Fix fallen over fencing or padding on the hill as needed.
  • Working with the snowmaking team to make sure snow is being made correctly
  • Working efficiently to ensure that grooming is being completed by 8:00am each morning.
  • Reporting any equipment issues to the onsite mechanic
  • Reporting any ski condition issues to appropriate leadership and Ski Patrol

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Must have previous experience in operating equipment and snow grooming.
  • Must have valid driver’s license in good standing and have suitable transportation to and from Horseshoe Resort
  • Must be able to work evenings, overnights, weekends, and extended hours as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work outdoors in a fast paced environment in all weather conditions
