We are hiring a Heavy Duty Mechanic for our processing facility Penticton, BC
Candidate must reside within 1 hour travel of Penticton, BC. Relocation assistance offered.

Must a have Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic License

Shifts: Afternoon 
$37.77 per hr

We are looking for an innovative, creative and proactive individuals capable of creating and driving change.
Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Red Seal Journeyman License
  • CVIP
  • 5 years of verifiable Diesel Truck/Heavy Equipment experience with knowledge of air brakes
  • ASE certification or ability to obtain same Heavy Duty Truck Repair
  • Mack and International: 4 years
  • Hydraulics Repair: 3 years
  • Engine RE and RE: 4 years
  • Truck Maintenance: 4 years
  • Must have class 3 license or willing to obtain one
  • Requires ability to communicate orally and in writing in English in order to complete job functions.
  • Requires that all safety protocols be maintained while working on vehicles.
  • Knowledge of Hydraulics repair is required
  • Position requires that you have your own tools.
  • As business needs dictate must be able to work alternating shifts.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Performs repairs and maintenance on heavy trucks, dozers, compactors, and other vehicles or heavy equipment to maximize safe and productive operations.
  • Typical repairs include but are not limited to, routine maintenance and repairing engines chassis and body components, hydraulic cylinders, brake systems, suspension systems, cooling systems, wheels and tires.
  • Road tests vehicles to troubleshoot problems and/or test repairs to ensure proper and safe completion.
  • Inspects equipment and/or trucks for condition, operations, parts and fluid levels, differentials, final drives, pump drives, and hubs.
  • Reads and interprets vehicle condition reports, and/or repair orders, communicates with supervisor and driver for clarification of problems. May discuss preventative techniques with drivers to minimize future repairs.
  • Makes emergency road calls to make repairs on trucks that break down while driving a collection route.
  • Uses a large array of hand and power tools.
  • Pushes or pulls large tool box.
  • Cleans parts and tools with chemical solvents.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Dexterity for handling small parts and tools in tight spaces.
  • Sufficient strength for handling larger parts and tools
  • Able to work utilizing safety glasses, steel-toed work shoes, uniform and hearing protection.
  • Able to climb steps and ladders.
  • Work performed indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
