Imagine for a minute that it's October 2020. Imagine the stories you'll have from living and working in Jasper National Park! You'll be sharing those stories for the rest of your life :)

We are located 53km south of downtown Jasper right in the HEART of Jasper National Park. It's a bucket list destination for many. You could call it home for 6 months. We provide inexpensive staff accommodations right on property (under $150/m!). It's a great culture focussed on positive living, exploring the park, learning, earning and making new friends.

We are looking for a trustworthy and reliable individual to join our team as a keyholder. As the keeper of the keys, you will be responsible for opening and occasionally closing the store and handling additional supervisory and customer service tasks. You could be a great fit for the keyholder position if you are team-focused, punctual, and ready to take your retail career to the next level.

 

What is a Keyholder – What does he/she do?

 

Keyholder is the manager’s right hand.  The manager at Sunwapta is a master purchaser and merchandiser. Under her leadership the gift shop has doubled its sales in 3 years. The manager needs a person who can follow her direction and be trusted to ensure tasks and duties are followed by the staff. The keyholder is organized, can make schedules and schedule adjustments, is comfortable supervising a group of 4 or more retails people. The keyholder also excels at sales, has experience training, and has exceptional communication and reporting skills.  

The duties also include handling operational procedures, assisting cashiers, providing customer service, ensuring training schedules are followed, keeping the entry area clean and organized. The most highlight assets are such as scheduling flexibility, a good level of physical fitness, supervisory skills, customer service orientation, and problem-solving abilities.

 

Responsibilities

  • Arriving early to open the store and start preparations for the day
  • Provide customer-focused service; welcome customers to the store and assist them with requests
  • Ensuring that the store is clean and organized 
  • Assisting cahiers in periods of high customer volume
  • Ensuring sales training is being followed
  • Identifying problems with working conditions and reporting them to management
  • Performing product demonstrations to customers
  • Assuming managerial responsibilities in the event of management absentees
  • Train and support new team members
  • Collaborate with store management to organize marketing and promotional campaigns  
  • Team up with co-workers to ensure proper customer service 
  • Build productive trust relationships with customers and staff alike
  • Comply with inventory control procedures 
  • Resolve issues that may arise, including customer requests, complaints and supply shortages

 

Requirements

Keyholder requirements

  • Proven work experience as a Keyholder, or similar role 
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience
  • Diligent and responsible attitude
  • Track record of over-achieving sales quota 
  • Hands-on experience with POS transactions 
  • Familiarity with inventory procedures 
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills 
  • A friendly and energetic personality with customer service focus 
  • Ability to perform under pressure and address complaints in a timely manner 
  • Open availability; dependable and punctual attendance
  • Adaptable; able to multitask in a fast-paced environment

We provide very inexpensive accommodation at under $150/m which you can read about in our FAQ and Housing Agreement. Once you’re hired, we’ve made it easy for you to simply pack your clothes and come out.
