POSITION: REGISTERED RESPIRATORY THERAPIST

DEPARTMENT:  PULMONARY FUNCTION TESTING

STATUS: REGULAR PART TIME

SALARY: $33.32 - $46.02

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The role of the Registered Respiratory Therapist within the Pulmonary Function Clinic is to perform pulmonary-function testing, lung capacity, diffusion capacity, and blood-and-oxygen tests and methacholine testing in order to gather data for use by the physician in diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary disorders.

HOURS:

Must be available for 7.50 hour shifts primarily during the day. However, the candidate must have flexibility to alter their schedule to evenings, weekends and holidays when required. In addition, the successful candidate must meet the non-availability requirements outlined in the Collective Agreement and be available for short notice calls when required.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in Respiratory Therapy required.
  • Current registration and in good standing with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario
  • Recent experience in PFT’s in the past six (6) months
  • BCLS certification required
  • ACLS Certification required
  • Experience with asthma, COPD and other pulmonary lung disease
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of pulmonary function testing
  • Proven ability to work independently, demonstrating a high level of initiative
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and application of practical and theoretical knowledge
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to operate Microsoft Office, Power Chart, etc.)
  • Experience in Lean / Six Sigma preferred
  • Strong interpersonal verbal and non-verbal communication skills
  • Physical ability to perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
  • Evidence of ongoing continuing education
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety
  • Excellent attendance record in accordance with STEGH’s Attendance at Work Program 
  • Demonstrated acceptable performance record in alignment with STEGH's Mission, Vision, Values and Code of Conduct

Successful candidates must provide evidence of a fully completed COVID-19 vaccination status prior to your first day of work. Any candidate entering .the facility to attend an interview will be required to provide evidence of a fully completed COVID-19 vaccination status. To be considered fully immunized, individuals need to have received their second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days earlier than the date they are arriving to an interview or to begin work at STEGH.
