Description
As a member of the Nutrition and Environmental Services team, the Nutrition and Environmental Services Supervisor is responsible for assisting in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to provide a unified food service and environmental care experience for patients, visitors and employees.
Responsibilities include daily planning and directing all unit activities related to nutrition, environmental services and laundry, and linen and waste management. This role will provide supervision in areas of food production and patient food services, complying with the standards established by safe food handling criteria set by the Northwestern Health Unit and province of Ontario as well as providing direction to the Environmental Services staff to operate within the established norms of cleaning, achievement of infection control standards, and productivity.
In the absence of the Manager, the Nutrition and Environmental Services Supervisor is responsible in ensuring effective department operations.

Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
- Graduate of an approved/recognized Food Service Supervisor’s course or hospitality course. If not completed prior to employment, employee will be required to complete programs as a condition of employment, employee will be required to complete program as a condition of employment.
- Successfully complete Safe Food handler Certification Program
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions in English
- Possesses organizational, supervisory, good communication and leadership skills
- Ability to make sound judgments and quality decisions regarding work related activities and staff performance
- Demonstrate high motivation and initiative in all aspects of duties and responsibilities
- Willingness to participate in continuing education inside and outside the facility
- Complete knowledge of applicable regulatory agencies, policies, codes, standards and regulations including but not limited to: Ontario Food Safety laws & Requirements, WHMIS, Occupational Health and Safety Act an infection control.
- Excellent knowledge of CSA and PIDAC standards as they relate to Environmental Services in Healthcare
- Working knowledge of infection control practices and procedures
- Scheduling experience in a unionized environment
- Familiar with automated hospital and food service systems (computer knowledge)
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in Health Care Food or Hospitality Services
