Lean Manufacturing Engineer

Our company has over 60 years of experience specializing in the design, manufacture, and custom fabrication of engineered polyethylene systems for water, wastewater, and storm water management applications.  We offer our clients full-service engineering support in the design and manufacture of custom systems to meet their project’s specific requirements.

We are currently seeking a Lean Manufacturing Engineer for our Huntsville, Ontario manufacturing facility. The main responsibilities include learning and developing lean concepts by studying and planning operations for the effective utilization of personnel, material, machines, and facilities where decisions are made within the limits of general practices and policies.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Industrial Engineering; relevant experience gained through internship or co-op opportunities taken into consideration
  • Working knowledge of Lean concepts and demonstrated application
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing operations and practices
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize work, and exercise initiative to ensure an efficient and quality level of service
  • Strong attention to detail and
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision (self-starter), and as part of the team
  • Able to develop strong and effective working relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent computer skills and sound knowledge of MS Office. Experience utilizing a fully integrated ERP system an asset.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in Lean activities, utilizing engineering background
  • Assist in establishing operational methods and work standards using various measurement techniques
  • Assist in planning new and/or relocation of facilities and operations
  • Assist in the design and improvement of manufacturing/production methods and control systems using new, existing or modified machinery and equipment. Design tools and equipment as necessary
  • Assist with Kaizen events by establishing course of action to accomplish task and/or project
  • Introduce or recommend changes to work methods, safety measures and labour organization
  • Design of facilities and layout of building, layout of machines and equipment
  • Develop methods for controlling production costs and costs analysis
  • Utilize knowledge and background to address ergonomic/safety issues
  • Maximize facility efficiency through establishment of Kanban and inventory systems
  • Actively participate in all Health & Safety training and promote a safe work environment
  • Conduct all work according to established procedures, policies, and standards and other duties/tasks as determined by supervisor/manager
  • Other duties/tasks/projects as determined by manager
