Expression of Interest: Alternate Part-Time Clerk Position Available

This opportunity is exclusively open to internal part-time employees who are members of the SEIU Hospital bargaining unit. Qualified internal candidates are invited to express their interest in this alternate part-time role.

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

Members of the SEIU Hospital bargaining unit are invited to apply for the opportunity to obtain an alternate position, enabling them to join this dedicated team.

This is a fast-paced and rewarding role where you’ll play a vital role supporting both in-patient admissions and out-patient programs. You will manage referrals, schedule appointments, process admissions, and register clients, ensuring seamless access to care. Collaborating closely with clients, clinicians, and registration staff, you’ll contribute significantly to efficient operations and meeting the diverse needs of everyone involved.

This opportunity provides a pathway for bargaining unit members to transition into this important area, fostering professional growth and team integration.

WHAT YOU BRING

Education/Experience:

  • One year post secondary office administration program or equivalent combination of education and experience is mandatory
  • Recent admissions/registration and appointment scheduling experience
  • Experience working in a computerized office environment

 

Skills/Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and Excel
  • Proficiency in computerized registration and bookings software and keyboarding is essential
  • Must have working knowledge of medical terminology and spelling expertise
  • Accurate keyboarding skills are essential
  • Demonstrated ability to provide client-centered support

  • Must possess the ability to handle multiple tasks and have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication listening and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a variety of client and clinicians on a daily basis
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated regular attendance at work

 

Assets:

  • Experience working with Meditech healthcare software applications is considered an asset

 

Conditions of Employment:

  • This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Criminal Record & Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
  • Offers of employment made to external candidates are conditional upon providing proof of a complete primary series of Health Canada approved mRNA COVID-19 vaccine or proof of valid medical exemption, prior to the offered effective date.
