The Manager, Regional Geriatric Program South East (RGPSE) Operations will assume a leadership role in coordinating, developing and facilitating the creation of linkages, partnerships/networks, and resources (people, products and funds) for Specialized Geriatrics-related programming across the, South East (SE) region. This includes clinical services and resources, community and public access programs, knowledge translation/exchange and education that promotes regional capacity building (related to ageing and health), and research. The Manager will be responsible for day-to-day functioning of the program and working with key participants to grow and develop the program.

 

Education & Experience:

  • Master’s degree in a related field (e.g., Health Administration, Gerontology, Aging and Health, Nursing, or Allied Health)
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in care of older adults, inter-professional care and community health services
  • Experience in developing quality improvement initiatives
  • Experience in developing and writing applications for external funding including grants
  • G class license and access to a reliable vehicle

 

Position Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assumes a leadership and collaborative role in performing a regional needs analysis, managing and supporting regional capacity building, and working with internal and external partners and programs
  • Develops and maintains a regional assets inventory related to Geriatrics programming (clinical, education/capacity building, research, etc.)
  • Develops relationships and builds collaborative processes with a goal of optimizing existing resources and improving timely access to geriatrics programs and services for older adults in the SE region
  • Develops annual reports, progress reports, proposals and presentations as needed based on ongoing projects and collaborations, as well as presenting to the Steering Committee quarterly
  • Manages RGPSE resource development including project planning, people and financial resource allocation and coordination of related activities
  • Liaises with principal participants on an ongoing basis, provides updates and engages in goal setting with the Medical Director(s) and Providence Care senior leadership
  • For projects with funding, estimates the people services (staff & participants) and financial resources needed to achieve project goals and assesses need for additional resources. Monitors the deliverables to ensure milestone and on-budget completion
  • Participates in regional, provincial and national networks and groups
  • Implements and evaluates capacity building initiatives for healthcare professionals, care partners, and community partners, with a focus on geriatric care and health aging
  • Conducts learning needs assessments to identify gaps and inform the development of targeted educational initiatives across clinical and community settings
  • Evaluates program effectiveness through participant feedback, outcome measurement, and continuous quality improvement processes
  • Establishes and maintains partnerships to support knowledge sharing and the dissemination of best practices across the region
  • Searches for funding opportunities and leads or assists in writing grant proposals to support RGPSE’s research and clinical activities
  • Co-Chairs the SGS East group, enhancing collaboration between the RGPEO and RGPSE
  • Assists in the coordination, design and implementation of RGPSE research initiatives by writing and submitting ethics applications when required, assisting in gathering and analyzing project outcome data, coordinating research assistants, writing or assisting with writing final reports
  • Presents at academic and professional conferences
  • Writes or assists in writing articles for scholarly and professional journals and newsletters
  • Manages portfolio expenditures within budget and submits budget reports as required
  • Leads the recruitment of new staff for the RGPSE team as applicable, working with support from People Services to coordinate recruitment, interviewing, hiring and orientation, as needed
