POSITION: WASTE MANAGEMENT STUDENT
Primary Sites: Alliance wide
Temporary Full-time
REPORTS TO: Manager, Environmental Services
DATE REQUIRED: As soon as possible
POSITION SUMMARY:
In this role, the student will be responsible for assisting with the day to day activities within the Environmental Services Departments. The successful incumbent will provide support for existing hospital waste programs, coordinating sustainability initiatives, and waste reduction education. This may include: data entry, data analysis, auditing, resource creation, program planning, research on current trends and best practices, and special projects within the department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently enrolled in a college or university level program related to Environmental Sciences, Ecology, Environmental Engineering, Environment and Resource Management, or another similar STEM related program.
- 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th year C.E.T or Engineering student preferred
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Highly developed level of maturity as demonstrated by sound decision-making skills, excellent judgement and assessment skills
- Strong command of the English language – both written and verbal
- Excellent keyboarding and computer skills: proficient in Word-processing, Spreadsheet and Graphics software packages
- Highly developed ability to organize and prioritize within a fast paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to commit to a highly confidential environment
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License with access to own vehicle. Travel is required throughout Huron-Perth region with occasional travel to major centres
- Able to meet the physical demands of the position
